Surgery is not the only solution to make hemorrhoids go away?. Here’s how this annoying problem can be addressed.
Sometimes the blood vessels in the final tract of the digestive tract become inflamed and, swelling, lead to the appearance of a disorder as widespread as it is annoying: haemorrhoids.
Characterizing this problem is itching, burning and pain in the anal region, sometimes associated with heavy bleeding. How to deal with them correctly?
Can hemorrhoids go away? Treatments for less severe cases
In case of anal bleeding it is a good idea to consult a doctor. This does not mean that invasive intervention is always necessary, on the contrary, often minor annoyances can be solved in the privacy of your own home.
In fact, there are ointments, creams, foams and suppositories that can effectively treat hemorrhoids.
They generally contain a cortisone associated with a local anesthetic, but there is no shortage of products based on lubricants, disinfectants or molecules or extracts capable of promoting the health of blood vessels, such as witch hazel.
If necessary, the treatment can be combined with the intake of a pain reliever (for example paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid or ibuprofen).
Even hot baths can give relief: just soak the painful part in water 2-3 times a day for 10-15 minutes. Cold packs, on the other hand, can help reduce swelling.
If this approach is not effective, it is possible to try the path of products to be taken orally. Their active ingredients aim to promote good blood vessel health, and can also be useful in case of bleeding.
Hemorrhoid treatment products can often be purchased without a prescription, but avoid taking them for more than a week.
Can hemorrhoids go away? Interventions for less simple cases
In some cases, however, drug treatment is not sufficient. In fact, sometimes it is possible that a blood clot forms in an external hemorrhoid, which can only be removed with a small incision that must be made by the doctor.
In the case of internal hemorrhoids, rubber band ligation may be indicated, an outpatient procedure that involves the application of small rubber bands at the base of the hemorrhoid. In this way the blood can no longer flow inside it, and the hemorrhoid dries up, detaching itself.
A less effective alternative is sclerotherapy, which involves drying the hemorrhoid by injecting specific substances into it.
Finally, internal hemorrhoids can be treated with coagulation techniques based on the use of laser, infrared or heat, which however are associated with a higher incidence of relapses than elastic ligation.
When is the surgery to make hemorrhoids go away required?
In case of severe or recurrent hemorrhoids, the doctor may recommend a hemorrhoidectomy, the surgery to remove the hemorrhoids. Depending on the case, the operation can be performed under local, spinal or general anesthesia.

Whatever treatment is best for you, there are a few things you can do to help you cope better with hemorrhoids.
For example, it is advisable to use cotton linen and products specifically designed for cleansing in the case of hemorrhoids, free of alcohol or other potentially irritating substances.
Finally, it may be useful to take products that facilitate the evacuation making it less painful despite the presence of hemorrhoids.
From this point of view, however, the first help comes from the diet, which should be rich in water and foods rich in fiber that help soften the stool. Make way for fruit, vegetables and whole grains.
